2016 Round Up…..

2016 was a pretty busy year for me, but this makes me very very happy.

I met many tiny new babies, lots of smiling little sitters and of course all those awesome cake smashers and toddlers, and not forgetting all those christmas cuties!! It’s been a fun packed year, full of laughter, smiles, sweat, tears and poop!!

I sincerely hope 2017 follows the same path, and from what I can see already it’s going to be an awesome year, Also remember, if you had a newborn session with me during 2016 you get a complimentary Little Sitters session once baby is sitting unaided…..I cannot wait to see all these tiny little people smiling and giggling, so remember to get in touch and book your session in with me.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank every single one of my past clients, not only for choosing me but for trusting me…..It means a lot to me and I appreciate every single one of you.

Newborn Photographer GrimsbyI am taking bookings for June/July & August now so book quick to secure your spot with me. My diary is filling quickly, and due to only taking a set amount of sessions per month I encourage all expectant parents to book in before whilst pregnant (20 weeks plus)

New Specialist Newborn & Baby Studio, Grimsby Lincolnshire

New Specialist Newborn & Baby Studio, Grimsby! Wow what a huge whirlwind 2016 was for me and my fantastic little business!

Not only did I get to continue doing the job I love so very much, alongside meeting over 100 families for their sessions and getting lots of newborn snuggles and cheeky toddler grins, but I also got to move to my own gorgeous little studio!! The studio move has to be one of my biggest business highlights of 2016, and I’ve had no end of compliments about it from clients who have visited me since it opened.

It took quite a few coats of paint to remove all the previous colour and get it all beautiful and white but it was well worth the long hours. Unfortunately due to how busy I have been I haven’t even taken any proper photos of it but I do have some phone images I can share.

Here is the transformation after just 48 hours

Anyone who has been to see me since I opened in October will agree I have managed to fill it even more since these photos. I’ve obviously also got my huge studio light, Newborn beanbag and my backdrops mounted to the wall….Plenty more bits and bobs I’m aiming to do to it given the time and chance too!

I have loved working from my own cosy little space during the end of 2016 so very much looking forward to what 2017 may bring for my business, and of course looking forward to meeting many more families and capturing those treasured memories.

I am also hoping to run a few small Newborn Posing workshops from my studio….so quick heads up for any photographers looking for either 1:1 Newborn Training or Workshops during 2017.

Your Newborns Safety – Newborn Photography, Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire

Safety is paramount – Grimsby Newborn Photographer

During every single newborn session that takes place in my studio safety is always number one!!

Why am I telling you this??

The answer to that is simple! Over the last few days social media is a light with so many different posts, newspaper articles and of course Blog posts about Newborn Photography Safety, and it saddens me to read that two new mums have had terrible experiences and their new babys safety has been compromised during newborn sessions, a time that should be a wonderful experience for the parents. All because the photographer wasn’t working with safety as their number one priority.

I have specialised in newborn photography for four years now and worked hard to make sure I am on top of my game, offering my clients SAFE sessions with me, I have undertaken various online newborn related workshops and I now offer Newborn Safety & Posing Mentoring. I am fully insured and a very proud member of the Baby And Newborn Photography Association (BANPAS)

“An Association whose members are amongst the UK’s leading baby and newborn photographers.  The Association promotes safe working practices and we are dedicated to ensuring your baby’s comfort and safety takes priority whilst our members create beautiful images for you to treasure.”

The BANPAS are currently trying to raise more awareness of safety during newborn sessions and have a whole section on safe practices and composite poses during a newborn session on the website – http://www.banpas.co.uk/composite-poses

What is a Composite??

A composite image or pose is when several images are taken and merged together during the editing process in Photoshop. These images are what ensure a baby is kept safe during their newborn session. It allows the photographer to make sure their are hands on the baby, keeping little one nice and safe and secure, but also allows them to then go away and create these beautiful pieces of art. Unfortunately not all photographers are using composite images, some are even unaware they exist, and it is this that is causing concern. Below are some examples of images I have done and used composites to create the final finished piece for the parents. As you can see in the images there are hands on the baby and these are carefully edited out. The top images are the final edited images and the bottom two are of course the two images that have been merged together.

There are certain types of poses which require composite images to be used to create the final piece, A baby should never be left to balance or left in a position where they could easily fall.

If for a second you doubt your photographers experience then as your baby’s parent you have every right to stop the photographer from what they are doing and question them, Your baby is the most precious thing to you, Please do not let anyone compromise their safety!

Do your research before booking your photographer, Do they have insurance? Are they working safely to create their images?  Do they use composite images for certain poses? Do they belong to the BANPAS? All these questions should be asked before booking your session. Make sure you are putting safety as your number one reason for choosing your photographer!
