Last week saw me doing another 1:1 newborn training day for another photographer who wants to start her career in newborn photography. I run my 1:1 newborn mentoring to help and guide newborn photographers on how to safely pose these precious little people into all those beautiful curly poses we all love so much. During a day with me I run through how I prepare for a newborn session, How I prepare my clients for their session, How I set up and of course how I style my sessions. We run through the session like it was any other newborn session and I guide my trainee on how to safely pose our tiny subject. Safety is always one of the main things I focus on, Every single session I do I am always fully aware of how safe baby is, after all these tiny people are handed over to me by their parents and they expect nothing less than me handling their baby as if it was my own, for the parents it’s a huge thing to hand their precious bundle over to someone they barely know, so my main priority is to make sure parents are comfortable with how I handle their baby, of course I often sneak in a little snuggle from these cute babes.
For our session we had the pleasure of a very sweet little lady to model for us, Hazel was just 5 days old when she came to model for us and boy did she do great allowing me to demonstrate how a session with me typically would run, of course allowing for all those little things including feeding and snuggles. Little Hazel had such a cross little face all the way through our session despite being fast asleep, love her little character.
Here are some of my favourites from our session together, Enjoy sweet Hazel!

Some lovely kind words from recent training days –
Daniella Wainwright – Danni Wainwright Photography
Jodie’s session has been invaluable to me and really gave me the extra confidence and information I needed to launch my business. She is an extremely likeable and approachable lady with whom you’ll feel relaxed asking even your ‘silly’ questions. Jodie is still providing on-going support and guidance – she genuinely loves to help and share her (vast) knowledge. Thank you Jodie

My mentoring day with Jodie was fab from start to finish! I saw and learnt so much. Jodie didn’t mind me asking questions all the time and always had an answer for me. I feel much more confident in photographing newborns now and her ongoing support is invaluable, thanks so much Jodie!
I was nervous about the session but was easily put at ease by Jodie and her friendly nature. Jodie didn’t mind how many questions I asked and was good at explaining how to set up each pose and helped when it came to reviewing the shots in camera to ensure exposure etc. Post mentoring session Jodie has continued to be supportive and encouraging which has been worth it’s weight in gold. Many thanks Jodie.
