Grimsby Photographer – Project 365 – January 2nd 2015

Day Two – Bowling Fun!!!

Project 365, Day Two, Friday 2nd January, the last day of the final week off school so we decided to take the kiddies bowling, As much as they have given me moments of insanity over the holidays I am sure going to miss them come Monday when they are back to school!!

Day two’s image just had to be of our bowling trip, even though it would mean me leaving my comfort zone with my camera, Anyone who knows me will say how even though I am a photographer I barely take my camera anywhere (which is part of the reason I am doing this) I miss so many photo opportunities and always regret them, So I’m thankful I started this challenge as I now have images of my children bowling today and for the first time not using the children’s stand!!

Here is my boy in action….with a little help from Daddy 😉

Grimsby Photographer – Project 365 – January 1st

A fresh new year…..A fresh challenge!!

As you can imagine in my job my clients often assume I have millions of images of my own two children, unfortunately they couldn’t be more wrong, I am saddened to say I probably only ever capture my own children 2-3 times a year, with the odd snapshot in between of course. I am usually so busy with client sessions, editing, ordering and of course the admin side of my business by the time I get to sit back and enjoy time with my children I just forget to take my good camera along, and more often than not totally forget to take any photos even with my phone, meaning of course as my babies grow older images of their childhoods will be almost non existent.

So with this in mind I have decided as it’s the start of a brand new year it’s also the perfect time to take part in Project 365, giving me the opportunity and the kick up the bum I need to try and capture at least image of my children/family every single day of the coming year…..Not as easy as it sounds I am sure so I am giving myself some slack and allowing the use of either my good camera or my phone, hopefully meaning I shouldn’t fail this challenge.

My aim is of course to be able to sit down this time next year and create a beautiful yearbook with of course 365 images and no less inside, meaning that in years to come me and my children are able to look through and remember all that happened in 2015…..Sounds wonderful doesn’t it?! Well your all more than welcome to join in with me, I would love to see some of the images other people are taking every single day, even if you only have a phone camera why not, a phone image is always better than no image at all!!

So kick starting my 2015 journey here is Day 1’s image, My two little people sharing a lovely moment together all snuggled on the sofa during our first pj day of the year, A day full of giggles and even some family time watching movies and of course cuddling. My 1 aim for this year is happiness for me and my family, and I am hoping to convey this in all my images 🙂

Please if you do decide to join in and follow on my journey do share with me…..Drop a link/image in the comments so I can take a peek!!

Happy New Year!!!

Amie Hamilton - Jodie was a life saver after having been let down by a previous photography jodie managed to fit us in, although my daughter was persistent in not sleeping we managed to get there in the end and jodie was so easy to get along with and so patient, we laughed for the whole session and felt so at ease leaving my daughter in Jodie’s capable hands, she produced some amazing images that will last a lifetime, Cnt wait to book my daughters cake smash with Jodie for her first birthday! romana Knight - We we’re originally booked in on a Friday for a photo shoot with my daughter of 2 weeks. Jodie and myself tried everything possible to get little Aria to stay asleep but over 2 hours later I asked if we could come back. Jodie very kindly got us booked in for the following Tuesday. Her patience and understanding was fantastic, I’m so grateful for jodie’s perseverance and it made me realize how difficult her job can be. The end result of our beautiful daughter and how she captured these beautiful photos is outstanding and I would definitely recommend jodie to future newly parents. Thanks again jodie.:-) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Fiona Carroll - We had a newborn photo session with Jodie last year and loved the pictures so much that we booked in as soon as we could for a cake smash session for our sons first birthday. Jodie was fantastic on both occasions. The pictures are stunning! Our little boy wasn’t the easiest to photograph but we were amazed at how Jodie managed to capture some super images of him, as if he had never been grumpy! Thanks Jodie xxx

October 4, 2014 - 10:23 am

Jennifer Connor - I first used Jodie in 2013 for my sons cake smash after she was highly recommended. She made the experience so much fun and relaxing, even though her studio was covered in cake! I was so overwhelmed by how the pictures came out then when I found out I was pregnant with my second son I had to book in for the newborn session. The session was fantastic. Jodie was so patient, my son at first wouldn’t sleep and then had hiccups! I watched on in amazement as she handled my baby putting him in all sorts of positions. Her pictures are truly breathtaking! Not only a lovely lady who welcomes you into her home but a true talent. Already booked my youngest in for a cake smash for February! Always wil continue to recommend you to everyone. Thank you again Jodie xx

October 4, 2014 - 4:19 pm

Laura Forrest - My little boy had his cake smash back in April, we where so pleased with the pictures, he didn’t like it at first, Jodie was so patient with him, we got some great shots when he got the taste for the cake, very professional, would recommend for sure 🙂 x

October 6, 2014 - 8:15 am

Holly Freer - We had our newborn session done last December, we were amazed with the outcome and couldnt believe how professional the pics look. People still comment now about how good the pics are and ask how she managed to get siennas head resting in her hands! Jodie is lovely and very relaxed, she really knows what she is doing i would recommend her to anyone 🙂 thank you xxx

October 28, 2014 - 3:38 pm

Karen Barton - My son Joseph had his newborn photo session in February of this year. I was amazed at the patience and expertise that is required to create such stunning photographs. I sat in silent amazement as Jodie expertly placed Joseph into poses whilst he slept. Newborn photography is truly an art form and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the images of my son. The whole experience was wonderful and I will definitely be booking in for a 1st birthday cake smash! Xxx

October 28, 2014 - 9:04 pm

Kayleigh Brophy - I first went to visit Jodie in 2011 for a newborn shoot and was totally in love with my images I didn’t hesitate to go back for my little boys first birthday photo shoot and again for my little girls newborn shoot, each and everytime my images were perfect and Jodie was totally professonial and most importantly very patient and gentle, so of course I couldn’t resist a mini Christmas shoot for my 3 children. Perfect again 🙂
Great value for money too.

October 29, 2014 - 7:52 am

Stacey Woolsey - I first used Jodie back in 2012 when my daughter was born. I didn’t hesitate to go back when my son was born as I was in love with the photos and wanted the same again. One thing I said the first time around was I couldn’t believe how much patience she had and this came into good use again when my son had his shoot. We got there in the end but I can only imagine post photographers would of gave up and just made do with the ones they had but Jodie kept going. I get so many compliments when people walk in and see both my babies pictures on the wall and I still love them as much now as I did when I first got them. Would definetly recommend and will be using again in the future ???? xx

October 29, 2014 - 7:59 am

Laura Leonard - Had another amazing second session, filled with fun and giggles. Jodie is very patient and professional and SUPER QUICK at snapping not so forthcoming smiles from my 2 year old daughter. Photos are quality and always a thrill to see. Thanks again, back next year x

November 20, 2014 - 5:51 pm

Shereen Salameh - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jodie to anyone. We booked our son in for a newborn session last year and after receiving stunning photographs that we never get bored of looking at we decided to book a mini session this year. Jodie’s patience with our 17 month old bundle of energy was astounding. Whilst I got frustrated with him refusing to sit still for more than a mili-second she never did! She tried different approaches, giggled with him and snapped away when she got the chance. It’s not just the brilliant photographs that I love about Jodie, it’s the whole service and the way she goes about her job with such enthusiasm and joy. We will definitely be back again ????.

November 20, 2014 - 6:53 pm

Gemma wade - I’ve admired Jodie’s pictures for a while as I love how perfect they all look, and knew if I was ever lucky enough to have a baby I’d book in with her. From making the initial enquiry she was helpful and answered all my questions and was really understanding and fitted him in her busy schedule due to him coming 6 weeks before his due date. During the shoot jodie was so patient , caring and gentle with my tiny boy to ensure he was settled which was lovely and reassuring for me as a new parent. I have only seen a preview of the pics so far as awaiting to view the full gallery but I can’t describe how pleased I am with them and excited to see the rest. I deffinatly made the right decision when booking with jodie and without a doubt would use her again and recommend her to anyone and everyone. Thank you again I know I’ll have pictures that I’ll love forever xx

Newborn training – 1:1 mentoring | Grimsby, Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire

Last week saw me doing another 1:1 newborn training day for another photographer who wants to start her career in newborn photography. I run my 1:1 newborn mentoring to help and guide newborn photographers on how to safely pose these precious little people into all those beautiful curly poses we all love so much. During a day with me I run through how I prepare for a newborn session, How I prepare my clients for their session, How I set up and of course how I style my sessions. We run through the session like it was any other newborn session and I guide my trainee on how to safely pose our tiny subject. Safety is always one of the main things I focus on, Every single session I do I am always fully aware of how safe baby is, after all these tiny people are handed over to me by their parents and they expect nothing less than me handling their baby as if it was my own, for the parents it’s a huge thing to hand their precious bundle over to someone they barely know, so my main priority is to make sure parents are comfortable with how I handle their baby, of course I often sneak in a little snuggle from these cute babes.

For our session we had the pleasure of a very sweet little lady to model for us, Hazel was just 5 days old when she came to model for us and boy did she do great allowing me to demonstrate how a session with me typically would run, of course allowing for all those little things including feeding and snuggles. Little Hazel had such a cross little face all the way through our session despite being fast asleep, love her little character.

Here are some of my favourites from our session together, Enjoy sweet Hazel!

Some lovely kind words from recent training days –

Daniella Wainwright – Danni Wainwright Photography

Jodie’s session has been invaluable to me and really gave me the extra confidence and information I needed to launch my business. She is an extremely likeable and approachable lady with whom you’ll feel relaxed asking even your ‘silly’ questions. Jodie is still providing on-going support and guidance – she genuinely loves to help and share her (vast) knowledge. Thank you Jodie

Sarah Dale – Sarah Dale Photography

My mentoring day with Jodie was fab from start to finish! I saw and learnt so much. Jodie didn’t mind me asking questions all the time and always had an answer for me. I feel much more confident in photographing newborns now and her ongoing support is invaluable, thanks so much Jodie!

Rebecca Fisher

I was nervous about the session but was easily put at ease by Jodie and her friendly nature. Jodie didn’t mind how many questions I asked and was good at explaining how to set up each pose and helped when it came to reviewing the shots in camera to ensure exposure etc. Post mentoring session Jodie has continued to be supportive and encouraging which has been worth it’s weight in gold. Many thanks Jodie.
